Mojo Monday 481

Good evening! Mojo Monday's sketch this week was very fun but I kept my card pretty simple and basic.

First the Sketch:

Here is my take on it:

I used some patterned paper from Basic Grey titled South Pacific that I picked up at Tuesday Morning. If you haven't ever shopped there for crafting goodies, I encourage you to do so. The sentiment stamp came from Simon Says Stamp Birthday Flowers stamp set. I finished it off with a few sequins to give it a little something.

Mixed Media Canvas

Card making will always be my first love but recently, I've started to dabble in Mixed Media. Today, after getting the laundry demon defeated, I decided to make a canvas. I used a 5 x 7 canvas I picked up on sale at Hobby Lobby and an ephemera pack from Art C.

Here is the canvas after I had used a piece of map paper and Faber Castell Gelatos. This was the point I decided to put this on the blog.

I used some stamps to give a little life to the background and then splattered some white paint over everything. Looking back on it now, I think black splatters might have worked better.

While I waited for that to dry, I decided on which ephemera pack I wanted to use. ( I have several...I don't have a problem!) I like to use them because I sometimes struggle with finding elements that will work well together and those packets make it so easy to decide. Here is the one I used:

I began to place items on the canvas to see if what I wanted to use would look nice together.
This is where I got caught up in placing things and playing around and forgot to take pictures so I could make a blog post out of what I was doing. So here is the first layer all glued down and dried with the heat gun. I had a star in the lower right corner but didn't like it so much and replaced it with a key. I decided on the key after I had tied the bow and glued the string down. I think it turned out okay in the end, but I would have liked the bow and key on the same side.

And again, I forgot to take pictures...There was a cute little envelope and photo negatives I combined with some word tags that were in the pack. (All the elements used on this canvas came from the ephemera pack, even the string).

Here is the finished canvas:

This was a nice way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.

MFT 316

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #316

Here is the sketch:

Here is my card:

This is a standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card. The patterned paper was some I had in scrap and the purple cardstock I had from a bundle I bought from Hobby Lobby. I am seriously crushing on this Pure Innocence Hula Hoop stamp set from MFT. It is just adorable. I'm going to try to expand my collection of the Pure Innocence stamps. They are all so cute!

I am not affiliated with MFT but I linked their stamp set in case someone visiting might like to take a look at it.

Thanks for stopping by!

Freshly Made # 271

Happy Saturday!

Here is my submission for this week's Freshly Made Sketch Challenge... but first the sketch:

Here is my card:

This is a standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card. I used the Love to Go stamp set from Unity Stamp Co. I colored the cup with Ciao Copic Markers and then fussy cut it out and stamped the image again on white cardstock I stuck to red cardstock. I popped the image up with some dimensional tape I picked up from Hobby Lobby. I added some Wink of Stella glitter pen to the heart on the cup but it doesn't show up in the image.

I am not affiliated with Unity Stamp Co, but I linked the stamp set in case someone might like to grab it up. It is adorable and I can already tell I will be using it a lot.

Mojo Monday Challenge

Mojo Monday 480

Good evening! Today I made a card for the Mojo Monday Challenge.

Here is the sketch -

Here is my card (Please ignore the dust on the lamp) -

I used scraps I have had in my stash for over a year from a Simon Says Stamp card kit (Feb. 2015, I think.) I can't remember the name of the papers or who made the rub-ons I used. I used Wink of Stella clear glitter pen and Glossy Accents on the heart. I think it turned out well.

Freshly Made Challenge

This is the card I made for the Freshly Made Challenge # 270

Here is the sketch:

Here is my card:

So this is a Memory Box die I snagged a year or so ago (maybe longer) and I can't remember who from, I love it and use it a lot in my card making.

The sentiment came in the first stamp set I ever purchased when I began paper crafting / card making and I have lost the brand and set name over the years.

The card stock is basic black and white with a card base that came in a package of 50 that I picked up at Hobby Lobby. It is smaller in width than a standard A2 card. It measures 4 x 5 1/2.

I added the sequins because it looked a little plain and I thought it needed something to give it a little dimension.

CAS(E) Challenge

This is my submission for the CAS(E) this sketch challenge. The sketch was a nice one.

The sample cards were just gorgeous!

Here's my take on it.

I used a MFT stamp / die set Pure Innocence Hula Hoop. My order came in today and I couldn't wait to play with the goodies!

I popped the sentiment up on foam tape and put some faux stitching around the edges which as I look at it now may have been a mistake since I can't draw a straight line with a ruler and I used my new T ruler to do this... I also drew white gel pen hearts around the little girl. I colored her with Ciao Copic markers. I don’t have many of them and I’m terrible at shading but I think it came out okay. I added a touch of Wink of Stella clear glitter pen to her shirt, but it doesn't show up in the picture.

Thanks for stopping by.

My first Sketch Challenge (MFT)

So here is my very first sketch challenge card for viewing.

I used the MFT Birthday Greetings stamp set as it is currently the only stamp set I have from MFT, but I indulged on the release this month so that won’t be the case for long.

The patterned papers are from a Basic Grey, South Pacific 6 x 6 paper pack that I picked up at my local Tuesday Morning, and I used the heart from the Tim Holtz Scribbles and Splat Thinlits die set.

Hello, Internet!!

I'm Sarah.

The story so far...

When my son came home from college I was left with a dilemma that I had to sort out quickly. While I was thrilled to have my baby bird back in my nest, I now had to relocate all of my crafting supplies. Hubs and I shared the bedroom my son took over as an office/craft space and now we had to move it all out. Hubs quickly took over real estate in our bedroom for his office space while I was still packing up the crafting goodies I couldn’t part with. A lot ended up stored in the attic because there simply wasn’t room for them in the little corner I carved out of the living room for myself. It isn’t much, but there is room for my paper crafting, painting, and whatever else I might decide to do.

And that is how I came up with the name of my blog.

I hope to use this little blog to join in on fun challenges and events on the crafting blogs I have lurked on for ages and share my creations with others like me.
